Awkward Blush By Christine Swiderski

Trip and slip not really coordinated

Tongued tied

Blemishes abound

Love of parents always say

Everyone goes through this

I ignore the wisdom they share

Divert my eyes

Not showing my weakness

Until that day

The world seemed to go my way

Your hair is fair

limbs are long and lanky

The first words I hear

You ask directions

I notice the braces

You divert your eyes

I tell my first lie

Giving you bad directions

I notice you coming again my way

I smile and say

Here let me show you where”

From that day

We share this fray

With our kids

They don't believe

When we tell them

Everyone goes through this
